Pricing Help

This guide explains how DropCatcher pricing works for monitoring, backorders, add-ons and support. If you are pricing up one name or a full portfolio, the steps below will help you choose the right option and understand what you pay in Rand.

How our pricing is structured

DropCatcher pricing is based on the service you choose and how many domain names you want us to monitor or place on back-order. Some clients only need one or two names watched closely, while others need ongoing cover for a full portfolio. The cost is shown in Rand so you can budget properly for monthly or yearly spend.

We keep the structure simple. You pay for the core service, then only add extras if you need them. That means you do not have to pay for brand variant watch or portfolio audits if you are only after expiry monitoring. It keeps things tidy for startups in Claremont, as well as larger teams in Bellville or Somerset West.

Choosing the right plan for your needs

Start by deciding what you want to protect or capture. If you mainly want alerts before a name drops, expiry monitoring may be enough. If you are targeting a specific release, back-order placement and release window tracking are usually the better fit. For businesses with several domains, a portfolio review can show where renewal dates, spelling variants or risky gaps need attention.

  • One-off target: back-order placement or acquisition consulting
  • Small portfolio: expiry monitoring plus renewal reminders
  • Growing business: brand variant watch and reporting and alerts
  • Large holding: portfolio audits with transfer support where needed

If you are not sure, send your list to domains@dropcatcher.co.za and we will point you to the most suitable setup. It is better to pay for the right cover than to spend on extras you wont use.

What add-ons cost and when they help

Add-ons are there for clients who need more than basic monitoring. For example, renewal reminders are useful if several domains sit with different registrars. Transfer support can save time when a name must be moved before a deadline. Reporting and alerts are helpful for teams that need updates sent to more than one person, especially when the person handling renewals is out on leave or in meetings all day.

Common add-ons are billed on top of your chosen service, either per name or as a portfolio based item depending on the work involved. We explain the price before anything is activated, so you know where each Rand is going. That matters when budgets are tight and you need to keep a close eye on monthly costs.

  • Brand variant watch for common spelling changes and abbreviations
  • Keyword discovery for finding usable names in your market
  • Portfolio audits for cleaning up renewals and duplicate records
  • Transfer support when ownership or registrar details must change

How billing works in Rand

Billing is done in Rand and the amount depends on the scope of service, the number of names and any add-ons you select. In most cases, you will see the cost before you confirm the order, so there are no surprises later. If a service is renewed, the next billing date will be shown clearly in your account or on your invoice.

For South African businesses, it helps to match billing to your internal cycle. Some clients prefer monthly payments so the cashflow is easier to manage during slower trading months. Others choose annual billing for fewer admin tasks and a cleaner record at year end. Either way, we keep the paperwork straight and simple.

Steps to check a price before you order

If you want to check pricing before placing a request, use these steps:

  • List the domain names you want monitored or captured
  • Decide whether you need monitoring, back-order placement or both
  • Add any extras such as renewal reminders or reporting and alerts
  • Send the list to our team with the timing you need
  • Wait for a clear quote in Rand before you confirm

This process works well for clients in Cape Town Coverage, Stellenbosch Coverage and Paarl Coverage who need to compare options quickly. It also helps when a company is managing several names across departments and wants everything priced together.

When to ask for a custom quote

Ask for a custom quote if you have a larger portfolio, a short release deadline or several related names that need to be handled together. Custom pricing is also useful if you need a mix of monitoring, acquisition consulting and transfer support. In those cases, we look at the total workload rather than treating every name in isolation.

We will also suggest a custom quote if the request involves unusual timing, urgent release window tracking or bulk portfolio audits. That way the price reflects the actual work, not a guess. If you are unsure, send your brief and we will confirm the best option without making the process drag on.

Questions we get asked

Is pricing shown in Rand?

Yes. All service pricing is shown in Rand so South African clients can budget clearly and compare options without conversion calculations.

Can I pay for only one domain?

Yes. You can price a single target name, or ask for a bundle if you want several domains monitored or watched together.

Do add-ons have separate charges?

Yes. Add-ons such as brand variant watch, transfer support or reporting and alerts are billed separately from the core service where applicable.
