1. Using the DropCatcher service
DropCatcher provides expiring domain back-order, monitoring and related support services for South African users and registrants. Our service is intended to help you track selected domain names, receive alerts about expiry, and place requests for acquisition support where available. We do not guarantee that any domain will be secured, released, transferred or made available for registration.
You must use the service lawfully and for legitimate business or personal purposes. You may not use the service to interfere with another party’s rights, breach registry terms, or submit false details. If we reasonably believe a request or account is being used improperly, we may suspend access while we investigate.
2. Account details, instructions and your responsibility
You are responsible for the accuracy of all information you provide, including contact details, company details and domain instructions. If your email address changes, or if you miss an expiry notice because your records were out of date, that remains your responsibility. Keep your login details secure and do not share them with unauthorised persons.
- Provide accurate registrant, billing and contact information.
- Review alerts and reports promptly.
- Confirm each back-order or monitoring instruction carefully.
- Notify us without delay if you suspect unauthorised account access.
If you act on behalf of a business, trust or close corporation, you confirm that you have authority to do so. We may rely on the instructions from the authorised contact on file unless and until we receive written notice of a change.
3. Fees, billing and payment terms
Fees for monitoring, reporting, acquisition consulting, transfer support and any related work will be set out in the quotation, order form or invoice issued to you. Unless agreed otherwise in writing, all amounts are payable in South African Rand. Prices may change from time to time, and any revised pricing will apply from the date stated in the relevant notice.
If payment is late, we may pause services, withhold reports, or suspend active instructions until the account is brought up to date. Where third party costs apply, including registry charges, transfer fees or verification costs, you remain responsible for those amounts unless we expressly agree to carry them. A monitoringg request is only active once we have accepted it and received any required payment.
4. Monitoring, alerts and acquisition support
Our monitoring, release window tracking and brand variant watch services are based on data from registries, public records and other sources we consider reliable. However, expiry dates, release timing and transfer conditions can change without notice. Network interruptions, load-shedding, registry delays and manual processing by third parties may affect the timing of alerts and actions.
- Alerts may be delayed, incomplete or unavailable during system outages.
- We may prioritise requests in the order received or by service level.
- We do not control registry decisions, auction outcomes or competing claims.
- Keyword discovery and portfolio audits are advisory services, not legal opinions.
You remain responsible for checking whether a domain is suitable for your business, including any legal, branding or trade mark concerns. If you require formal advice, obtain independent professional assistance before acting on any suggestion or report.
5. Personal information and communications
We process personal information to provide the service, manage accounts, send alerts, issue invoices and respond to support requests. We handle such information in line with South African data protection requirements, including reasonable security safeguards and limited use of information for the purpose it was collected. We may store communications for administration, dispute handling and compliance.
By using the service, you consent to receive service-related emails, notices and reports from us. These may include renewal reminders, transfer instructions, back-order updates and account notices. You may not opt out of essential service communications while your account remains active.
6. Liability, changes and governing law
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd and its staff, including Marius van der Merwe, Ayanda Mkhize, Liam Petersen, Zanele Ndlovu, Jason Naidoo and Chantel Botha, will not be liable for indirect loss, loss of profit, missed opportunities, business interruption or any loss arising from registry delay, failed release, incorrect third party data or force majeure events. Our total liability for a proven claim will not exceed the fees paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
We may amend these terms from time to time to reflect legal, operational or service changes. The updated version will apply from the date published. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and any dispute will be handled in the competent South African courts. If any clause is found unenforceable, the remaining clauses will continue in force.
